After a fiery conversation last week over the capital improvements budget, the ACPS School Board and Alexandria City Council are set to have another joint session tomorrow from 7:00-9:00 PM.
During the meeting last week, City Council sharply criticized the ACPS School Board for their additions, the lion's share of which go towards rewarding loyal frontline educators. Unfortunately, the contentious discourse has continued into this week, with some Alexandria city leaders openly questioning if Alexandria will see a tax hike during an election year.
While this sounds alarming, it is important to note that numerous surrounding municipalities are flirting with tax increases as well.
However, with evidence suggesting our city leaders are in for another contentious conversation, coupled with the explosive news of the ACHS administration restructuring, one has to wonder what effect all of this will bring?
The data indicates that it will be our educators, and, most importantly, our students who suffer.
If you are interested in attending the joint session you can do so by going to ACPS Central Office (1340 Braddock Place Alexandria, VA 22314) at 7:00 PM.
